THE ROLE OF SCAFFOLDING IN DEVELOPING ENGLISH SKILLS AND THE ZONE OF PROXIMAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

This article studies the significant role of scaffolding in learning English, formally originated from the zone of proximal development. The concept is analyzed its relation to teaching English. Scaffolding method includes temporary motivation that drives students forward to acknowledge a foreign language while the idea of the zone of the proximal development is giving a hand to acquire a new language at right time and removing it at the right time. Also this article highlights its positive impact to foster writing, reading, listening and speaking skills and emphasizes scaffolding continuing relevance in teaching English till this time.
