THE ROLE OF EXTENSIVE READING IN DEVELOPING EFL LEARNERS' VOCABULARY

This paper explores the role of extensive reading in enhancing vocabulary acquisition among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. Extensive reading involves the reading of large amounts of text for enjoyment and overall understanding, rather than for intensive study. The paper reviews existing literature on the impact of extensive reading on vocabulary development, discusses its implementation in EFL classrooms, and highlights how this approach can be effectively used to improve learners’ lexical knowledge. The findings suggest that extensive reading provides a valuable, natural, and enjoyable way to develop vocabulary in EFL contexts.
