Abstract

This article examines the relationship between intellectual property rights (IPR) and international trade, focusing on the TRIPS Agreement's role in establishing global IPR standards. It outlines TRIPS' history, its impact on innovation, foreign investment, and trade, while addressing challenges like access to medicines and enforcement. The article also explores economic benefits, TRIPS-plus agreements, and how jurisdictions adapt IPR frameworks to evolving global commerce demands. Highlighting future challenges, such as enforcement and balancing private and public interests, it offers policy recommendations for a fair, sustainable trade system.
