Abstract

Background Liver fibrosis represents the most important determinant of long-term prognosis in metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Transforming Growth Factor-β (TGF-β) is considered one of the principal cytokines involved in hepatic fibrogenesis.

Aim To evaluate serum TGF-β levels in patients with different stages of MAFLD and determine their relationship with liver fibrosis severity.
