THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION
Abstract
This article deals with the impact of interaction in social networks on language norms, especially on the formation of the lexical stock of modern English. The language is constantly developing and enriching at the lexical level. One of the manifestations of the evolution of any language is the emergence of new words — neologisms. The significance of the study lies in the fact that currently the English language is experiencing a real "boom of neologisms". This article studies how social media affects language and communication, how social media has influenced language use, linguistic standards, and communication methods. The article highlights the development of language on social platforms, which emphasizes the creation of new language techniques, including abbreviations and hashtags. This article also studies the function of social media in the development of linguistic creativity and innovation. This phenomenon is embodied in the spread of memes, the formulation of new expressions and the influence of social networks on linguistic norms and conventions, including the adoption of non-standard options, as well as the use of colloquial expressions and regional dialects.
