THE ROLE OF ENDOCRINE CELLS OF THE COLON IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF METABOLIC DISORDERS
Abstract
Endocrine cells of the colon play a key role in regulating metabolism through the production of hormones that affect appetite, glucose and lipid metabolism. Disruption of their morpho-functional organization can lead to the development of obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome. This article discusses the mechanisms of the influence of intestinal hormones on metabolic processes, as well as the prospects for their use in the treatment of metabolic disorders.
